A CASE FOR SPECIAL CREATION

The struggle between the adherents of evolution and the adherents of special creation continues. The battle is not between scientists and Christians, for there are vast numbers of qualified scientists (such as Dr. Raymond Damadian, the inventor of MRI technology) who hold to special creation. Nor will the battle be won by the side that has the best evidence, for both sides observe the same evidence.

The story is told of a five-year-old girl that was allowed to observe the birth of her little brother. Just as she entered into the delivery room with the nurse, Junior came out. The doctor promptly gave her little brother a swat on the bottom, and started to carry him to a nearby table. His sister, seeing the event, said, “Doc, give him another swat on his bottom; he never should have crawled up there into mommy in the first place.” All parties in the room observed the same evidence; but, obviously, the little girl didn't interpret the evidence very well!

There is ample evidence for the special creation of man (and for all other life). For instance, consider ATP Energy.

All your cells require energy in order to live. The energy used by human cells is ATP. In fact, this major energy currency molecule of the cell, ATP, is critical for all life, from the simplest to the most complex. It is only one of the millions of enormously intricate nannomachines that is necessary in order for life to exist on earth (http://www.trueorigin.org/atp.asp).

Your body consumes its weight in ATP energy every day. So, how is this energy generated? Each cell in your body has a very tiny motor that makes ATP energy. The motor is around 10nm x 12nm (nm=nanometers). Consider that about one hundred thousand million of these motors would fit on the head of a pin!

This F1-ATPase motor is made up of nine components, which include a power source, fixed stator, movable rotor, and a commutator. This motor is “irreducibly complex” — meaning that all If evolution were true, all nine of these parts would have had to evolve simultaneously. If only one part were missing, the motor would not function. In addition, evolution would have to produce a mechanism to assemble Not only that, but the nine components would have to evolve and assemble themselves into a fully functioning motor within 5-6 minutes, or else the cell would die for lack of energy. Also, input to this motor comes from hydrogen ion protons, which are delivered to the motor like water onto a water wheel. (The “how” of this is still a mystery!) This process would also have to evolve within minutes, since the motor, even fully functional, would be totally inefficient without input from the “water wheel.” Of course, the process of delivering the generated ATP energy would likewise have to evolve within the same 5-6 minute time frame, or else the cell would die for lack of energy. Finally, the cell itself would have to evolve within this short time, and simultaneously condition itself to accept ATP as the energy framework for itself.

Can evolution simultaneously produce these components and processes within minutes? No, evolution cannot explain such a complex system. God designed and implemented it for His glory, and for your very life. No wonder the Bible says, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well” (Psalm 139:14).

The Lord’s wisdom and power in creation should evoke awe in all men. It is time for those who have believed the lie of evolution to change their minds and hearts, turn to God, and cleave to the One who created them.
